WVU Libraries offers an Intro to AI tutorial for students. This Tutorial covers
- Define and differentiate between various types of AI technologies, with an emphasis on understanding how Generative AI functions and its integration in everyday tools
- Explain AI training processes and inputs and how that impacts output
- List methods for evaluating AI outputs for accuracy, bias, and reliability
- Describe AI’s impacts on data privacy, the environment, and intellectual property
- Articulate strategies for appropriate academic and professional use of AI, including proper citation and acknowledgment practices
Students work through 5 modules, taking self-tests in order to progress from one module to the next. After completing the last module, students take an exam on the Tutorial’s material. The final exam, consisting of 36 questions, randomly draws from a question bank.
Students generally require about 40 minutes of concentrated work time to complete the tutorial.
The tutorial is available at https://library.wvu.edu/aitutorial. Students can simply visit this link and take the tutorial and exam. At the end of the exam, they will be prompted to email their scores to their instructors.
