Place readings or other materials for your students on reserve at WVU Libraries, providing them a short-term, no-cost option for access.
Find course reserves
While the most reliable way to get textbooks quickly is to purchase or rent them from a campus or online bookstore, some faculty place required reading and textbooks on reserve at WVU Libraries, providing a free option for students to access these materials for a short period of time.
WVU Libraries administers this no-cost option, among others, to access class readings or materials.
Students can:
- Search the Libraries’ course reserves catalog to see if your instructor placed a book, study guide, article, video, or other resource on reserve for students to borrow. Physical copies are behind the Access Services desk of your library if available.
- If the material you are looking for is not on reserve, search WVU Libraries’ full catalog to see if the Libraries holds a copy.
- Request any material that is not available via WVU Libraries and we will order it for you through Interlibrary Loan (ILLiad).
Place materials on reserve
With Course Reserves, WVU Libraries can make most, if not all, class materials available online for students to access at no cost.
Faculty can:
- Place materials like journal articles, book chapters, streaming media, and more, on reserve.
Not sure where to start?
- Take advantage of the Libraries’ one-stop shop guide, which has everything you need to get started with finding or placing materials on reserve.
- Ask a Librarian for help with finding course materials on reserve or about the best ways to ensure course materials are accessible to students.
Or talk to WVU Libraries Director of Access Services Anna Crawford.
