Center for Research Libraries

About CRL

The Center for Research Libraries (CRL) is an international consortium of university, college, and independent research libraries.

CRL acquires and preserves newspapers, journals, documents, archives, and other traditional and digital resources from a global network of sources. Most of the materials acquired are from outside the United States, and many are from the emerging regions of the world: Africa, the Middle East, Southeast Asia, South Asia, and Latin America.

CRL enables institutions to provide students, faculty, and other researchers liberal access to these rich source materials through interlibrary loan and electronic delivery. CRL loan and electronic delivery services are designed to support major research projects, the production of scholarly monographs and studies, dissertations, and graduate and advanced undergraduate seminars.

Borrowing from CRL

Scholars and researchers from CRL member institutions have free and unlimited use of the CRL collections through interlibrary loan. The loan period is unlimited, but is subject to possible recall notice. Readers from institutions outside the membership can use the collections for a prepaid fee and are subject to certain restrictions.

If you are a researcher and would like to find out more about borrowing from CRL collections, please speak with the WVU Libraries' interlibrary loan office (304) 293-0368.
