Ensure your data is well-organized, accessible, and compliant with funder requirements through tailored support and planning tools.
Develop a data management and sharing plan
The Libraries supports researchers in the development of their data management and sharing plans. We help you incorporate best practices for data management into your research processes.
You can:
- Take advantage of the Libraries’ one-stop shop guide, which has everything you need to start a data management and sharing plan.
- Create clear, structured metadata to describe your research data—helping others discover, use, cite, and preserve it effectively.
- Seek help with finding disciplinary repositories that are specialized to your field and enable your research to be stored in a context that aligns with your area of study.
- Consult research data management and sharing experts for first draft reviews of your plan, personalized guidance via one-on-one sessions or group trainings.
- Attend a workshop (typically scheduled during fall and spring semesters) focused on data management and sharing plan methods and best practices.
Learn more about data management and sharing plans
Data management and sharing is the organization, storage, preservation, and sharing of data collected and used in a research project. Although most often associated with the sciences, data management and sharing can be a valuable tool for all disciplines. WVU’s librarians are experts in data management and sharing methods.
