The History of Medicine Collection, located at the Health Sciences Library, contains histories of health sciences disciplines, diseases and treatments, biographies of medical pioneers, as well as early textbooks and research publications.
Pre-1850 books are being transferred to the Rare Books Collection. Titles may be temporarily unavailable during the transfer period. To learn the availability of specific titles, please consult the West Virginia & Regional History Center https://wvrhc.lib.wvu.edu/visit. Titles published between 1850 and 1930 are in closed stacks at the Health Sciences Library and are retrieved upon request. The circulation status of these volumes is evaluated individually based upon the condition, value, or rarity. Post-1930 titles are available for browsing in the Health Sciences Library and may be checked out.
