Ask a Librarian- Your library questions answered! You can find answers in our knowledge base 24/7 or get live help.

Borrowing and Renewing- At the WVU libraries the loan period for faculty is one semester. WVU-owned books may be renewed online or in-person.

Interlibrary Loan (Illiad)- The WVU Libraries have agreements with libraries around the country. To request items from other libraries, use ILLiad.

Book Express+- Faculty may have books delivered to a convenient WVU library location and will be emailed with the book arrives.

Document Delivery- Faculty may request copies of articles, through Illiad, that are only available in print at the Libraries.

Depository Materials Delivery- Housing of older materials and journals.

Library Cards- Your WVU faculty ID serves as your library card. It also is used when making photocopies and printing.

Research Tools

WorldCat- With WorldCat you can quickly find results across multiple disciplines and seamlessly make ILL requests.

eJournals and eBooks- WVU Libraries provides access to more than 40,000 electronic journals and a growing collection of e-books.

LibKey Nomad- Use this browser extension to locate full-text through the WVU Libraries’ subscriptions, as well as check for open options such as pre-prints in institutional repositories.

Databases-- Indexes, Abstracts, Reference- More 360 research databases, covering all subject disciplines.

Off Campus Access to eResources- E-journals, eBooks and databases are available via the library website from any location.

Find it @ WVU- A linking application that provides full-text journal articles.

Open Access Research Publishing- Learn about open access publishing and WVU resources for OA.

EndNote Web, Mendeley, and Zotero- Manage citations, share research with colleagues, and bibliography & manuscript formatting.

Center for Research Libraries- Organization that provides more than 4.5 million publications, archives and collections and one million digital resources. Use Interlibrary Loan (ILLiad) for requests.

ICPSR (Inter-University Consortium for Political and Social Research)- Faculty have access to the data archive of over 8,200 studies. Available for download in multiple formats including Stata, SPSS and SAS.

Teaching Support

Course Reserves- Digital material can be placed on electronic reserve made available only to students in that class. Traditional reserves are also available.

Library Instruction- Schedule a library visit with hands-on instruction for your classes, request a guest lecture or ask for a customized online research guide.

Research Guides- The guides help students find academic sources for papers and projects.

Distance Education Services- Faculty living more than 25 miles from Morgantown may request articles via ILLiad. In addition, the Library will send 10 books per semester to them, at no cost.

Information Literacy- The Libraries offer a variety of opportunities and resources for faculty who wish to help students by integrating information literacy skills in their courses.

Suggesting New Books- To suggest a book purchase or journal subscription.

Extensive DVD collection on the 2nd floor of the Downtown Campus Library. DVDs may be checked out, screened in a viewing room, placed on reserve or streamed online.

Facilities and Equipment

Computers and Internet- Desktop computers are available for your use. Use your WVU ID username and password to log on to library computers.

Wifi- Campus wifi is available in the libraries. At the Downtown and Evansdale Libraries, library laptops are available for check out. Use your WVU ID username and password for access.

Multimedia Equipment and Media Viewing Rooms- Located at the Downtown Campus Library, 30 iMac computers are available with: Adobe Creative Suite, Final Cut Express, iMovie, Movie Maker and more. The library also lends equipment and has a viewing room that seats 56.

Study Rooms- Each library has study rooms available by reservation. For reservations visit https://wvu.libcal.com/spaces?lid=4182&gid=0.

Printing, Copying, and Scanning- Scan documents via email PDF at no cost. Printing costs 6 cents per page, and photocopies 7 cents per page. Pay for copies and prints with MountieBounty, which can be added to your ID card online at wvucard.wvu.edu/mb_deposit. There is also a plotter printer for large prints available in the Multimedia Services department at the Downtown Campus Library, along with scanners with multiple output options.
