Library Cards
To check out print library materials, users must have either a Mountaineer Card or a WVU Friends of the Library card. The library is no longer able to provide Copy Cards to non-affiliated individuals.
It is not necessary to obtain a library card to view printed materials within the library.
Students, faculty, & staff of WVU and retired faculty and staff may borrow print materials from the WVU Libraries by presenting a valid Mountaineer Card or Retiree ID Card to borrow materials. (For information about current WVU faculty, staff, and student access to online materials from off-campus, please see our Off-Campus Resources page. For information about emeritus and retired faculty access to online materials, please see our Retired Employee and Emeritus Faculty Access page.)
Friends of the Library cards are available to anyone over the age of 18 with a valid photo ID. The annual cost of these cards is $60.00 and are valid for one year from the date of issue. To apply for a card, come into the Downtown, Evansdale or Health Sciences Libraries and fill out an application in-person. Once the $60 donation is made, it takes 3-5 days to set up an account and have a card made. The Library is not able to provide in-library computer access until the Friends of the Library account has been set up.
Please report lost or stolen cards to the Access Services Department and the Mountaineer
Card office
