Anyone 18 years of age and over with a valid photo ID: (i.e. driver’s license, passport, etc.) may purchase a Friends of the Library card.
The annual cost of the Friends of the Library card is $60.00 and cards are valid for one year from the date of issue. Holders of the card may borrow up to five books for a four-week loan period and may access library electronic resources at computer workstations located within the WVU Libraries. Online authentication is required. Friends of the Library card holders do not have remote access to electronic library databases.
No family cards are available at this time. Institutional cards are available.
Some library services, including interlibrary loan, document delivery, laptop loans, group study rooms, reserve materials, multimedia equipment, or periodicals are limited to WVU students, faculty and staff.
Friends of the Library cards are available from the Downtown Campus Library, Evansdale Library and the Health Sciences Library Access Services desks. There is a brief application form which must be completed onsite. Following registration and payment, a card will be issued and cardholders will be given instructions on using the authentication system for computer use while in the Library
Children under the age of eighteen are eligible to use library services if a parent who has purchased a card agrees to cover any cost incurred as a result of a loan. When an application is completed by a parent who is interested in allowing under-age children to use their privileges, a permission form can be completed. The Library will keep this permission form on file and will contact the adult of record if necessary.
